Fill Me With Color 2022 - Pilot Project

Updated: May 13

Up-skilling Vulnerable Young Women to become Beauty Business Entrepreneurs.

Valerie Cares Foundation in 2022 embarked on its pilot project - Fill Me With Color Up-skilling Program . The 12 months long project is in three phases: Phase I ; teaching and skill training, Phase II ; an internship placement and a graduation ceremony & Phase III; integration into the beauty eco system with subsidized job bookings.

This project is aimed at providing professional makeup and business training to beneficiaries, while creating opportunities for growth and self-development for the beneficiaries.

The pilot up-skilling project is in partnership with The Or Foundation, a Ghanaian U.S foundation working at the intersection of environmental justice, education and fast fashion industry.

The beneficiaries under the pilot project are five young women who worked in the fast fashion industry in Ghana (popularly known as Kantamanto ) as head potters.

Valerie Cares Foundation’s mission is to provide, educate, empower and equip these young women through sustainable means to promote self-growth and career development.

The training and teaching under this project covered self-identity & development, occupational etiquette, human relations, photography, branding and marketing and the art and skill of makeup artistry.

The initiative for empowering these young women is to support them to achieve more and maximise their full potential which we hope will eventually have a rippling effect on their immediate communities. Our goal is not solely to train but also impact the mental framework and belief systems of the beneficiaries to sturdily build a community of accomplished and fulfilled women in the Ghanaian beauty ecosystem .
